AET Consultants developed and implemented a Construction Solid Waste Management Plan specifications for reducing, reusing and recycling construction site waste including onsite monitoring and inspection reporting. The Construction Solid Waste Management Plan considers environmental consequences of building practices to minimize waste generation, minimize landfill loading and conserve natural resources. The specification focuses on:
Construction waste reduction techniques, including reuse and recycling
Environmental friendly product choices with emphasis on recycled-content products
Procedures for both employees, suppliers and sub-contractors
Design planning techniques to reduce waste generation
The intent of the specification is to provide information, procedures and guidelines to Mattamy Homes Limited to assist in reducing the overall amount of waste generated during the entire construction process. Reducing waste demonstrates corporate environmental responsibility, provides compliance with local and provincial government regulations (i.e., Ontario Regulation 102/94 & 103/94) and ultimately reduces the overall project cost demonstrating corporate financial responsibility.
The specification reflects increased levels of performance through conserving resources and materials; promoting cleaner indoor environmental air-quality, reducing waste generation and reusing and recycling material by-products.
