As an environmental technician, Ms. Nielsen has consulted on numerous solid waste studies for IC&I organizations, MRF facilities and municipal waste projects.

• Over 20 years experience working in a medical research lab with acids, bases, a wide   variety of solvents, other chemicals, radioactive materials and biohazardous materials (up   to risk level 2, which are agents that can cause disease but are readily treatable).

• Health & Safety representative for a medical research lab for 12 years.

• Laboratory safety inspector (3 years) for both standard laboratory inspections and   biosafety inspections. Performed inspections of labs ensuring that chemicals were   properly stored, handled and disposed of. Ensured that fume hoods and laminar flow   hoods (for biohazardous work) were working properly and were used properly.

• Updated chemical inventory (chemicals used to prepare standards for the analysis of   water samples) for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment Laboratory Services Branch.

• Auditor for numerous Healthcare solid and hazardous waste characterization studies (bio-   medical and pharmaceutical waste) including Credit Valley Hospital, William Osler   Health Centre, Trillium Health Centre Mississauga, Toronto West, Georgetown Hospital,   Milton District Hospital and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

• Auditor for Multi-Family Waste Audit Studies for the Town of Markham, Ontario.
