The direct and indirect actions of business and industry degrade finite natural resources. Issues such as energy use, waste disposal, purchasing and staff training all have implications for environmental quality. They also have associated costs and, therefore, implications for business competitiveness.
There are numerous funded resources to promote and support the efficient exploitation of natural resources, administered by various organizations. There is a clear need to co-ordinate the development and operation of these business and environmental initiatives.
