AET Consultants affiliated company Eco2 Systems conducted the environmental compliance audit for TeleflexGFI Control Systems using an audit protocol which was developed to encompass federal, provincial and municipal environmental regulations applicable to a manufacturing facility. The building and property were assessed based on a review of historical records, interviews with personnel and current management practices. Areas investigated included:
air emissions management
water and wastewater management
chemical and fuel management
solid and hazardous waste management
spill prevention and tank management
controlled substance management
The report summarized each of these areas in detail as well as included a summary table of compliance issues that required immediate attention, issues that required addressing in a timely manner and best-management practices, which if implemented, would greatly reduce risk in the facility.
In addition, a procedure was developed to assess the readiness of TeleflexGFI Control Systems EMS for registration and to fulfill the requirement of Section 4.5.4 of the ISO14001 Standard. An audit checklist was created which compared the company's EMS to each element of the ISO14001 standard. From this, a determination of conformance to each section of the Standard was made and presented to the EMS team. This assessment was made through a review of current EMS policies and procedures, a review of all supporting documents and records and interviews with applicable personnel.
